Daydream Video + Artist Statement

This project is meant to portray a few fun things that I like to do with my best friend in a game-like scene. This includes long drives to new places, getting iced coffee, going to the mall to shop, and taking pictures, especially in the city. I started the video with my best friend driving her car down a long road, transitioning into another dimension where there is a twist to each activity. The twists are meant to portray the idea of something beyond reality while still connecting to the things we like to do throughout the week. The first phase shows the Jeep driving into a carnival scene with monster creatures. I wanted to have characters that do not really exist to show that it was unfamiliar territory. I added the target to shoot them down to allude to a video game and I wanted it to connect to the idea of us constantly seeking adventure. The second phase shows a dessert where the Jeep must “hit” each ingredient found in iced coffee to complete it. It is something that we enjoy doing because it is a great way to get out of the house and get some caffeine for the day. The next phase takes place at a shopping mall with a basic model and the goal is to pick an article of clothing from the moving conveyor belt on the side to create an outfit. Putting styles together is a passion that we both have so I wanted to incorporate into my video. Lastly, the scene is set in a city with a camera to take different photos. Her and I love to travel to places like New York, and we both often find ourselves documenting the busy culture of the city.
